Legendary Designer Diane von Furstenberg Showcases 2003 Fall Collection


MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA (April 24, 2003) –South Beach was buzzing last Saturday, April 12, when Miami Style VI took place at the Flamingo Resort Residence benefiting I-CARE/Baypoint Schools and Bony Pony Ranch Foundation.

Miami Style VI presented by Mercedes Benz showcased internationally acclaimed designer Diane von Furstenberg. Von Furstenberg’s signature sexy, vibrant and independent spirit was apparent as models from the Irene Marie agency strutted their stuff down the runway in dresses and sportswear from the Summer and Fall 2003 collections. Celebrity hair stylist to-the-stars José Eber Atelier in association with Stella Salon provided hair styling and Repêchage in association with Spa e provided cosmetics for the models.

Over 400 guests took part in Miami’s fashion event of the year, while over 100 Flamingo Resort residences watched in awe from their balconies. Guests of Miami Style VI were treated to a buffet of hors d’oeuvres and drinks by Marky’s Caviar, BondST Lounge, 5061, Oxygen Lounge, Willamette Valley Vineyards, Herbn Love tonics and Fiji water. Mistresses of Ceremonies were news anchor Jennifer Valoppi of NBC-6 and Irene Marie, President of Irene Marie Models. 

After the show, VIP ticket holders enjoyed dinner at Ago Restaurant in the Shore Club Hotel, the latest see-and-be-seen hotspot of Ian Schrager. Other partygoers attended SkyBar, also within the Shore Club, the official after party of Miami Style VI.

The Miami Style show brings the first-class fashion shows of New York and Paris to Miami by featuring a renowned international designer and showcasing their collection in front of prominent, influential and fashion-conscious South Floridians. Miami Style combines the designer with the best models, hairstyles and makeup artists formulating a fashion event unlike any other in South Florida. Past show designers have included Bill Blass, Richard Tyler, Cynthia Rowley, Nicole Miller, Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta. Past attendees have included Cameron Diaz, Oliver Stone, Matthew Modine, George Hamilton, Eileen Ford and Ivana Trump.

I-Care/Baypoint Schools, established by Dr. Mary Louise Cole, is a moderate-risk pilot program to rehabilitate juvenile delinquents. The model is based on traditional boarding school concepts that focus on education, strong leadership, accountability and self-discipline.

Bony Pony Ranch Foundation is an organization that helps underprivileged and at-risk youth excel beyond their current situations. Bony Pony Ranch created an atmosphere where young people can maximize their talents and achieve new goals in life by being exposed to new role models and mentors who can provide a positive influence. Many celebrities, including Renee Zellweger and Calista Flockhart, serve on Bony Pony Ranch’s Honorary Board.
