join forces at the
St. Regis to raise funds for Tibet
ASPEN, CO – On Tuesday, December 28 at the St. Regis Hotel, Aspen, over 200 celebrities and prominent guests gathered at a reception and Christian Dior fashion show, in support of the Tibet Fund.
The star-studded event, which was attended by Kevin Costner, Sally Fields, Kate Hudson and Ivana Trump, gathered to pay tribute to Hawn - herself an avid Buddhist. The occasion was the second annual Spirit of Freedom Award. Presented this year to Goldie Hawn, the Spirit of Freedom Award signifies appreciation and acknowledgment of an individual who has shown support and compassion for the plight of the Tibetan people.
Ivana Trump, Tibet Fund chairman Mickey Lemley, and last year’s award recipient Dr. Gail Gross presented the Spirit of Freedom Award to Hawn. Following the award, Hawn gave an emotional speech thanking Aspen for its support of Tibet Fund and urged the continuous support to preserve the Tibetan culture. During the evening reception, guests enjoyed informal modeling with fashions from leading designer Christian Dior showcasing their latest collection.
Founded in 1981 with the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tibet Fund today is the leading organization providing aid to the Tibetan people. A non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Tibetan communities, both in Tibet and exile. Tibet Fund assists with education, economic and community development.
Mickey Lemley, a chairman of Tibet Fund said, “The evening was very special. The Spirit of Freedom Award gives Tibet Fund a heightened awareness, as well as assisting us with much needed funding. We are very grateful for everyone’s support”. The event raised $20,000.
